We have received a grant from the Helen Jones Foundation, Inc. to fund a scholarship for students planning to attend Texas A&M in 2012-2013 and who have completed a significant amount of volunteer work in Lubbock County.  Applicants must provide documented proof of a minimum 100 combined volunteer hours with one or more legitimate non-profit service organizations in Lubbock County.  The volunteer hours must have been accrued within the applicant's last two years of high school (eleventh and twelfth grade years).  Acceptable documented proof must be in the form of a letter from each service organization.  The letter must be on the organization's official letterhead and have the original signature of the organization's local director.  No copies will be accepted.  This scholarship is not contingent upon receiving the LAMC scholarship, but some students will choose to apply for both.  This scholarship is based solely upon admission to the University and volunteer hours.  The scholarship recipient will receive $2500 for their first year of studies at TAMU, $1250 for each semester of freshman year.  The scholarship recipient will receive an additional allotment of $2500 for the second year of study at TAMU subject to documented proof of a minimum 50 hours of volunteer service completed for one or more non-profit organizations in Lubbock County.  These volunteer hours may be accrued during school holidays and during the summer between the student's freshman and sophomore years.  Documented proof of the additional 50 hours of service must be mailed to Judy Johnson, VP of Scholarships no later than August 1, 2013.   Click the links below for guidelines and application.
